A little more about me

Even though I am a Bolivian by birth, I have a multiracial heritage with Dutch, German, African and Latin blood flowing though my veins. I am a native Spanish speaker and completely bilingual. I have been exposed to different cultures and peoples from a young age, and I find it fascinating how different cultures use language in diverse ways to express similar ideas. It is interesting how language molds an individual and how it influences one's perspective of the world. Personally, I love studying Chinese, and I hope to gain the ability to be able to communicate on an equal platform of understanding with Chinese native speakers.

Growing up in Bolivia and seeing the poverty of so many of my countrymen made me realize the importance of helping others and I have done so by participating in Food For Life Programs in my hometown of Cochabamba in Bolivia where our team provided food for underprivileged children who work in informal markets, street children and children in orphanages. I also did volunteer work in Africa, India, Mexico and the USA. I want to help other Latinos feel good about who they are and proud of belonging to the Latino community. At the same time, I want to develop a deeper understanding of the challenges that Latinos face, not only in South America, but also in the United States, because I hope to one day work for the United Nations, and this is an area of special interest to me.
